So here is the composition, and what each component is.
What is in it
Lemon Bottle is a Korean cosmetic solution built around three components:
- Riboflavin, vitamin B2
- Lecithin, a phospholipid mixture, the relevant part being phosphatidylcholine
- Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme from pineapple
The first thing worth saying plainly: none of these are peptides. Lemon Bottle is filed alongside peptides in most catalogues, including ours, because of where it sits commercially rather than what it is chemically. A vitamin, a phospholipid and an enzyme.
The riboflavin is also why it is yellow. Vitamin B2 is intensely yellow in solution, and that colour is where the product name comes from.

Riboflavin
Vitamin B2 is a precursor to two coenzymes, FAD and FMN, which are carriers in the same broad category as NAD+. They shuttle electrons through metabolic reactions, including fatty acid oxidation.
That is the metabolic rationale for including it: riboflavin sits upstream of the machinery that processes fatty acids. It is also strongly coloured and photosensitive, which is why solutions containing it should be kept out of light.
Lecithin and phosphatidylcholine
This is the component with the longest history in this category.
Lecithin is a mixture of phospholipids, and phosphatidylcholine is the one of interest. Phospholipids are amphipathic, meaning one end is attracted to water and the other to fat. That property is exactly what makes them useful as emulsifiers: they sit at the boundary between fat and water and allow the two to mix.
Injectable phosphatidylcholine has been used in aesthetic practice for a long time, historically paired with deoxycholate, a bile salt, in formulations usually written as PC/DC. Bile salts do a similar emulsifying job in normal digestion, which is where the idea came from.
Phosphatidylcholine also appears in the Lipo C formulations, which combine it with other lipotropic components.
Bromelain
Bromelain is not one enzyme but a group of protein digesting enzymes extracted from pineapple, mostly from the stem.
Proteolytic means it cleaves peptide bonds, breaking proteins into smaller fragments. It has a long history in food processing as a meat tenderizer, and separately it has been studied for effects on swelling and inflammatory processes, which is the usual rationale for including it here.
There is a practical consequence worth noting. Bromelain cleaves peptide bonds, and peptides are chains of peptide bonds. That is a reason to keep an enzyme like this away from peptide material rather than combining them casually.
